Post-Publication Discussion
Post-Publication
Discussion Policy
Promoting constructive scholarly dialogue, transparent academic criticism, responsible author responses, and continuous improvement of the published research record.
Policy Statement
The Journal of Computer Science Artificial Intelligence and Communications (JOCSAIC), published by CV Raskha Media Group, recognizes that scholarly communication continues after an article has been formally published.
Post-publication discussion enables researchers, readers, practitioners, and academic communities to critically examine published findings, offer alternative interpretations, identify limitations, request clarification, and contribute additional scholarly evidence.
JOCSAIC supports responsible and evidence-based academic discussion while maintaining editorial independence, scientific objectivity, procedural fairness, and the integrity of the published scholarly record.
Supporting respectful academic debate and scientific criticism.
Encouraging verifiable arguments and methodological transparency.
Providing original authors an appropriate opportunity to respond.
Objectives of Post-Publication Discussion
JOCSAIC establishes post-publication discussion mechanisms to:
- Encourage constructive scholarly exchange concerning published articles.
- Enable readers to raise methodological questions or request clarification.
- Provide opportunities for alternative interpretations of research findings.
- Facilitate academic responses from original authors.
- Identify possible errors, omissions, or limitations affecting published work.
- Support reproducibility, research transparency, and scientific accountability.
- Promote timely editorial consideration of concerns affecting the scholarly record.
Scope of Post-Publication Discussion
Post-publication discussions may address scientific and scholarly aspects of articles already published in JOCSAIC.
Appropriate discussion topics include:
2.1. Research Methodology
Questions about research design, sampling, experimental procedures, statistical methods, and computational approaches.
2.2. Data Interpretation
Alternative explanations of reported findings, quantitative results, and scientific conclusions.
2.3. Reproducibility
Questions concerning the availability, interpretation, and reproducibility of research methods, code, and data.
2.4. Scientific Limitations
Identification of limitations, assumptions, uncertainty, or methodological weaknesses.
2.5. Research Clarification
Requests for clarification about figures, tables, equations, algorithms, or published statements.
2.6. Scholarly Corrections
Evidence suggesting errors or inconsistencies that may require an editorial response.
Discussions should focus on the scientific content of published research rather than personal characteristics, institutional affiliations, or unsupported allegations concerning the researchers.
Available Discussion Mechanisms
JOCSAIC provides a formal channel through the editorial office for readers to initiate discussions relating to published articles.
Letters to the Editor
Readers may submit formal letters discussing published findings, identifying scientific limitations, or presenting evidence-based comments and questions. Letters may be considered for publication after editorial assessment.
Scholarly Comments and Critiques
Researchers may submit constructive critiques, additional evidence, methodological observations, or alternative scientific interpretations through the journal's editorial contact.
Author Responses and Replies
Original authors may be invited to provide written responses explaining their methods, addressing criticisms, correcting misunderstandings, or presenting additional evidence.
External Scholarly Discussion
Independent scholarly discussion may also take place on moderated academic platforms such as PubPeer. Such discussion is not automatically treated as an official JOCSAIC editorial communication. Concerns requiring a journal response should be communicated directly to the editorial office.
Submission of Comments and Critiques
Individuals wishing to initiate post-publication discussion should submit their comments directly to the JOCSAIC Editorial Office.

Submit a Scholarly Comment →A discussion submission should include:
- Full name, affiliation, and contact email of the contributor.
- Title and DOI or URL of the article being discussed.
- A clear statement of the scientific issue or question.
- A constructive and evidence-based explanation.
- Supporting references, data, calculations, or other relevant materials, where appropriate.
- Disclosure of relevant competing interests.
- Indication of whether the correspondence is intended for public consideration.
The editorial team may request additional information, clarification, or supporting evidence before further consideration. Submission of a comment does not guarantee its publication.
Editorial Assessment and Moderation
All comments and critiques submitted for public consideration are subject to editorial assessment.
Editors consider:
- Relevance to the content of the published article.
- Scientific accuracy and supporting evidence.
- Academic significance and originality of the critique.
- Clarity, professionalism, and respectful language.
- Potential conflicts of interest.
- Compliance with applicable publication ethics requirements.
- Whether independent expert assessment is necessary.
Personal attacks, harassment, discriminatory remarks, defamatory statements, confidential personal information, spam, commercial promotion, and knowingly misleading claims are not acceptable. Editors may request revision or decline publication of inappropriate correspondence.
Scientific disagreement alone is not grounds for rejecting a critique. Editorial assessment must distinguish legitimate academic criticism from unsupported personal allegations.
Post-Publication Discussion Workflow
JOCSAIC applies the following editorial handling framework when considering a formal post-publication discussion.
A reader or researcher submits a scientific comment, question, or critique to the editorial office.
The editor examines its relevance, scientific basis, clarity, ethical compliance, and suitability for scholarly discussion.
When appropriate, the original article's authors are informed of the substantive critique and invited to respond.
The editorial team reviews the submitted argument and any author response. Independent expert review may be requested when warranted.
The editor determines whether to publish correspondence, request revision, facilitate additional clarification, decline publication, or refer a substantive concern to a formal integrity procedure.
Relevant decisions and communications are recorded. Approved public correspondence may be linked to the article, subject to the journal's publication arrangements.
Formal scholarly correspondence may undergo independent peer review depending on its scientific complexity and the editorial publication decision. Not every informal question or clarification requires peer review.
Rights and Responsibilities of Original Authors
Original authors are encouraged to participate constructively in scholarly discussions about their published work.
Authors may:
- Provide clarification regarding methodology, data, results, and conclusions.
- Respond to scientific criticisms and alternative interpretations.
- Supply relevant supporting evidence, where appropriate.
- Correct factual misunderstandings or acknowledge identified limitations.
- Notify the editorial office of confirmed errors requiring correction.
- Declare relevant conflicts of interest in their responses.
Authors will normally be given an appropriate opportunity to respond before formal correspondence is published. However, failure or refusal to respond does not automatically prevent the journal from considering a well-supported scientific critique or taking necessary editorial action.
Publication of Comments and Responses
Where a discussion is considered academically valuable and suitable for publication, JOCSAIC may publish an approved commentary, Letter to the Editor, author reply, or related editorial communication.
Published correspondence should, where applicable:
- Clearly identify the article being discussed.
- Provide accurate author and contributor information.
- Include appropriate references and supporting evidence.
- Identify the correspondence as a comment, critique, or reply.
- Disclose conflicts of interest and relevant funding.
- Be linked to the original article where technically feasible.
- Receive accurate publication metadata and persistent identifiers where applicable.
Published commentary represents the scholarly views of its authors and does not automatically constitute a correction, retraction, or formal editorial determination of misconduct.
Distinguishing Discussion from Research Misconduct
Post-publication scientific criticism must be distinguished from formal allegations of research misconduct.
| Nature of Concern | Editorial Handling |
|---|---|
| Alternative interpretation | Scholarly discussion and possible author response |
| Methodological question | Request for scientific clarification |
| Possible factual error | Verification and possible formal correction |
| Alleged data fabrication | Research misconduct assessment |
| Alleged plagiarism | Plagiarism and publication ethics procedures |
| Serious doubts about reliability | Formal investigation and possible post-publication notice |
Where a discussion raises credible concerns involving plagiarism, fabrication, falsification, duplicate publication, or related integrity issues, the matter may be transferred to the appropriate formal editorial investigation procedure.
Corrections, Expressions of Concern, and Retractions
Post-publication discussion may reveal errors or concerns requiring formal editorial action beyond ordinary scholarly correspondence.
A correction may be issued when a published error requires formal amendment but the principal findings remain reliable.
An Expression of Concern may inform readers about significant unresolved questions affecting the reliability or integrity of a published article.
Retraction may be appropriate when a published article contains unreliable findings or other serious publication-integrity problems that justify withdrawal from the reliable scholarly record.
Decisions involving such notices are handled under the journal's Correction and Retraction Policy and relevant publication ethics procedures. A critique alone does not establish grounds for retraction.
Editorial Independence and Conflicts of Interest
Editorial handling of post-publication discussions must be objective, academically independent, and free from inappropriate personal, institutional, or commercial influence.
Editors who have relevant conflicts of interest concerning an article, a critique, or a contributor must disclose those interests and should not independently handle the affected discussion.
When a discussion concerns an article authored or co-authored by a member of the editorial team, responsibility should be assigned to an appropriately independent editor or qualified external individual.
Confidentiality, Transparency, and Attribution
JOCSAIC distinguishes between confidential editorial submissions and correspondence approved for public dissemination.
- Unpublished correspondence is handled with appropriate confidentiality.
- Public attribution and disclosure are discussed with contributors before publication.
- Contributors must not misrepresent data, quotations, sources, or scientific evidence.
- Confidential personal information must not be published without an appropriate lawful basis.
- Original authors receive appropriate opportunities for response.
- Material editorial decisions should be documented.
Anonymous reports of credible research-integrity concerns may be considered through confidential misconduct-reporting procedures. Formal publication of anonymous correspondence is subject to a separate editorial assessment.
Response Time and Communication
The editorial office seeks to acknowledge scholarly discussion requests and conduct the necessary assessment within a reasonable period after receipt.
The duration of an assessment depends on the complexity of the scientific issue, availability of supporting evidence, involvement of the original authors, and any need for independent expert opinion.
When inviting author responses, the editor may establish a reasonable response deadline and communicate relevant changes to the parties involved. Extended discussions may be concluded when further exchanges are unlikely to produce substantial scholarly value.
Appeals and Reconsideration
Contributors may request reconsideration of an editorial decision concerning scholarly correspondence by submitting a written explanation and any relevant additional evidence.
Requests should identify the discussion or article concerned, explain the grounds for reconsideration, and present information that may materially affect the editorial decision.
Appeals should be reviewed fairly and, where feasible, by an editor who was not directly responsible for the disputed decision. A request for reconsideration does not automatically guarantee publication of the correspondence.
Policy Governance and Periodic Review
The JOCSAIC editorial management team is responsible for maintaining and implementing this policy as part of the journal's wider research-integrity framework.
This policy is applied alongside the journal's Publication Ethics, Research Misconduct Policy, Conflict of Interest Policy, Peer Review Policy, and Correction and Retraction Policy.
The journal may review and update this policy to reflect changes in scholarly publishing practices, publication ethics guidance, and available editorial communication mechanisms.
How to Participate
Researchers and readers wishing to discuss an article published by JOCSAIC may submit a concise, respectful, and evidence-based comment to the editorial office. Include the article title and DOI together with supporting scientific arguments.
