Research Integrity ICMJE Principles CRediT Taxonomy

Authorship and Accountability Policy

The Journal of Computer Science Artificial Intelligence and Communications (JOCSAIC), published by CV Raskha Media Group, recognizes authorship as both academic recognition and responsibility for the integrity of scholarly research.

This policy establishes transparent criteria for authorship eligibility, author contributions, corresponding author responsibilities, authorship changes, acknowledgment of contributors, and the ethical use of artificial intelligence in research and manuscript preparation.

SECTION 01

Criteria for Authorship

JOCSAIC adopts authorship criteria informed by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE). Individuals listed as authors must satisfy all four of the following conditions.

01. Substantial Intellectual Contribution

Making a substantial contribution to the conception or design of the research, or the acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of research data.

02. Manuscript Development

Participating in drafting the manuscript or critically revising it for important intellectual content and scientific accuracy.

03. Final Manuscript Approval

Reviewing and approving the final version of the manuscript intended for publication.

04. Accountability for Research Integrity

Agreeing to take responsibility for the work and ensuring that questions concerning its accuracy or integrity are appropriately investigated and resolved.

Important Principle

All authors must meet all four criteria. Every individual who meets these criteria should have the opportunity to be appropriately recognized as an author.

SECTION 02

Author Contribution Statement

Authors should clearly describe their individual contributions using the Contributor Roles Taxonomy (CRediT). Contribution statements improve transparency and help readers understand the responsibilities of each author.

The recognized CRediT roles include:

Conceptualization Methodology Software Validation Formal Analysis Investigation Resources Data Curation Visualization Supervision Project Administration Funding Acquisition Writing - Original Draft Writing - Review & Editing

CRediT identifies contributions but does not independently determine authorship eligibility. Individuals must still satisfy the journal's authorship criteria.

SECTION 03

Corresponding Author Responsibilities

The corresponding author acts as the primary communication representative between all authors and the JOCSAIC editorial office.

  • Ensure all authors meet the journal's authorship criteria.
  • Confirm that all authors approve submission and publication.
  • Provide complete and accurate author metadata.
  • Coordinate responses to reviewers and editorial requests.
  • Disclose funding, conflicts of interest, and relevant ethical approvals.
  • Maintain communication during peer review and after publication.
  • Cooperate with legitimate requests for clarification or supporting research information.

The corresponding author does not replace the individual accountability of other co-authors.

SECTION 04

Authorship Order and Changes

The order of authors must be determined collectively by the author group before manuscript submission. JOCSAIC does not determine author order solely on the basis of academic position, seniority, institutional authority, or financial contribution.

Requests to add, remove, or rearrange authors after submission must include:

  • A written explanation of the proposed change.
  • A revised author contribution statement, where appropriate.
  • Written agreement from all existing authors and any author being added or removed.
  • Confirmation that the revised authorship accurately reflects actual contributions.

The editorial team will assess the documentation before deciding whether the requested change can be processed. Post-publication authorship changes may require a formal correction notice.

SECTION 05

Acknowledgment and Non-Author Contributions

Contributors who do not meet all authorship criteria should be recognized in the Acknowledgment section rather than listed as authors.

Examples of activities that alone do not establish authorship include:

  • Providing funding or institutional resources.
  • General administrative supervision.
  • Routine technical or administrative assistance.
  • Language editing and proofreading.
  • Formatting or preparing manuscript files.

Acknowledged individuals should be informed and should consent to being identified. Their contributions should be described accurately.

SECTION 06

Artificial Intelligence and Authorship

Artificial intelligence systems, large language models, chatbots, and automated content-generation technologies must not be listed as authors or co-authors because they cannot assume responsibility for research integrity.

Authors who use generative AI tools in research or manuscript preparation must:

  • Disclose relevant AI-assisted activities transparently.
  • Identify the tools used and explain their purposes.
  • Verify the accuracy of AI-generated statements and references.
  • Protect confidential, personal, and unpublished research information.
  • Accept full responsibility for the final manuscript.
Disclosure Requirement

AI use for language assistance should be disclosed in an appropriate acknowledgment or declaration. AI use affecting data processing, analysis, methodology, software, or figure generation should be explained in the relevant methods section.

SECTION 07

Unacceptable Authorship Practices

JOCSAIC does not accept practices that misrepresent the identity, contribution, or accountability of manuscript authors.

Gift Authorship: Listing an individual as an author without sufficient scholarly contribution.

Guest Authorship: Including an individual primarily to increase the perceived credibility of a manuscript.

Ghost Authorship: Omitting a qualifying author or concealing a substantial contributor.

Authorship Manipulation: Adding, removing, or changing author information dishonestly to influence academic evaluation, publication decisions, or institutional recognition.

SECTION 08

Author Identity and Institutional Affiliation

All authors must provide accurate identifying information and affiliations during submission. Institutional affiliations should reflect the organizations where the relevant research was conducted.

  • Provide full author names accurately and consistently.
  • Identify departments, institutions, and countries correctly.
  • Use valid institutional or professional email addresses.
  • Provide an ORCID iD where available.
  • Ensure author metadata in OJS matches the accepted manuscript.
  • Verify the author order before final publication.

Misleading affiliations, fabricated identities, or unauthorized use of another person's identity may trigger an editorial investigation.

SECTION 09

Authorship Disputes and Editorial Investigation

Concerns about authorship eligibility, contributor omission, author order, or author identity should be submitted to the editorial office with supporting documentation.

The editorial team may request contribution statements, written confirmations, research documentation, and other relevant evidence. Where disputes cannot be resolved through editorial clarification, authors may be referred to their institutions for investigation.

Editorial action may include pausing manuscript processing, requesting corrected metadata, rejecting a manuscript, or publishing an appropriate correction or retraction notice after publication, depending on the findings. Allegations will be assessed fairly and will not automatically be treated as proven misconduct.

SECTION 10

Authorship Declaration Before Submission

Before submitting a manuscript, the corresponding author should confirm the following:

✓ All authors meet the defined authorship criteria.

✓ All authors agree to the author list and order.

✓ All authors have reviewed and approved the manuscript.

✓ Individual contributions are accurately reported.

✓ Relevant conflicts of interest and funding are disclosed.

✓ Relevant AI-assisted activities are appropriately disclosed.

✓ Author names, affiliations, and submission metadata are accurate.

International Standards and Guidance

This authorship policy draws upon internationally recognized recommendations and contribution reporting practices.

Reference to these organizations and their guidance does not imply formal membership or endorsement.
