Digital Archiving Policy

Long-Term Preservation, Accessibility, and Integrity of Scholarly Content

The Journal of Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence and Communications (JOCSAIC) is committed to supporting the long-term preservation, integrity, and accessibility of its published scholarly content. This policy describes the journal's approach to digital preservation, backup and recovery, author self-archiving, and continued access to the scholarly record.

1. Digital Preservation Commitment

JOCSAIC recognizes that published research forms part of the permanent scholarly record. The journal aims to maintain the integrity of published articles and their associated bibliographic metadata, including author names, article titles, publication dates, volume and issue information, DOI records where assigned, and links to the official publication.

Digital preservation arrangements are subject to the technical capabilities and preservation services that have been configured and verified by the journal or publisher. The journal will communicate its active preservation arrangements accurately and will not claim participation in an external archiving service unless that participation has been established.

2. Digital Archiving and Preservation Systems

JOCSAIC may use appropriate digital preservation services and archiving mechanisms to support the long-term availability of its published content. Such arrangements may include the following services when they have been activated and verified.

PKP Preservation Network

The PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN) provides a digital preservation service for eligible journals using Open Journal Systems. JOCSAIC's participation must be confirmed through its OJS configuration and preservation status before being represented as active.

LOCKSS and CLOCKSS

LOCKSS and CLOCKSS are digital preservation options that can support continued access to scholarly publications. Their availability for JOCSAIC depends on the relevant configuration, eligibility, and participation arrangements.

Backup and Recovery

Website and publication backups should be managed separately from external digital preservation. Backup procedures should cover relevant publication files, databases, configuration information, and other essential operational data, with restoration procedures tested when appropriate.

Important clarification: The systems listed above describe available preservation options, not confirmation that JOCSAIC is currently enrolled in or actively using each service. The journal will identify active services only after verification.

3. Preservation of Published Content

JOCSAIC seeks to preserve the accuracy and integrity of its published scholarly record. Preservation and maintenance activities may include:

  • Maintaining the official online records of published articles and issues.
  • Retaining article files and associated publication metadata in accordance with applicable operational procedures.
  • Maintaining persistent article links and DOI information where available.
  • Protecting publication records against unauthorized alteration or accidental loss.
  • Reviewing available backup and recovery procedures to support service continuity.
  • Preserving corrections, retractions, and other notices as part of the scholarly record when applicable.

Where technical or operational circumstances require a platform migration or restoration, the journal will seek to maintain the integrity of publication files and their associated bibliographic information.

4. Author Self-Archiving Policy

Authors may deposit their work in suitable institutional repositories, subject repositories, or personal academic websites, subject to the journal's copyright and licensing terms and any applicable third-party rights.

Unless a separate restriction applies, JOCSAIC permits authors to share the versions of their manuscripts described below. Authors should ensure that deposited files are accurately identified and do not misrepresent an earlier manuscript as the final published version.

Manuscript Version Self-Archiving Guidance
Submitted Version Authors may share the original submitted manuscript, provided that applicable copyright, confidentiality, and third-party rights are respected.
Accepted Version Authors may deposit the accepted manuscript after peer review, subject to the journal's applicable publication terms.
Published Version Authors may share the final published version in accordance with the applicable license and copyright terms. Where available, the DOI and official article URL should be included.

5. Permitted Self-Archiving Locations

Subject to applicable licensing, copyright, privacy, and repository rules, authors may deposit permitted manuscript versions in locations such as:

Institutional Repositories
University and research institution repositories.
Subject Repositories
Repositories relevant to the research discipline.
Personal Academic Websites
Author-controlled scholarly or professional websites.
Research Sharing Platforms
Platforms that permit the relevant version under their terms.

6. Requirements for Authors Depositing Articles

Authors who self-archive JOCSAIC publications are encouraged to provide complete and accurate bibliographic information. When applicable, deposited records should include:

  • The full article title and author names.
  • The journal title: Journal of Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence and Communications (JOCSAIC).
  • The publication year, volume, issue, and page range or article number, where available.
  • The article DOI, if assigned.
  • A link to the official version on the JOCSAIC website.
  • The applicable copyright and license information.
  • A clear indication of whether the deposited file is a submitted, accepted, or published version.

7. Access, Integrity, and Recovery

JOCSAIC aims to maintain reliable access to its published content and to protect the scholarly record against accidental loss, unauthorized modification, and avoidable disruption.

Where an article is corrected, retracted, or otherwise subject to a formal publication notice, the journal will handle the record in accordance with its applicable editorial policies. When technically feasible, the journal will retain appropriate links between the original article and the related notice to preserve the publication history.

The journal's recovery capabilities depend on the backups, preservation services, and technical arrangements actually maintained by the publisher. No digital preservation or backup system can be represented as providing absolute protection against every form of data loss.

8. Policy Review and Implementation

This policy is intended to promote transparency in JOCSAIC's approach to digital preservation and author self-archiving. The journal may review and update the policy when its preservation arrangements, publishing platform, licensing terms, or operational procedures change.

Any statement concerning a specific preservation service will be updated to reflect the journal's verified participation and configuration. Authors and readers should consult the journal's official website for the current policy.
