JUPAUD is committed to maintaining high standards of publication ethics, editorial integrity, transparency, and responsible scholarly communication. This policy applies to authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher involved in the publication process.

Core Ethical Principles

1. General Principles

JUPAUD expects all participants in the publication process to act honestly, transparently, respectfully, and responsibly.

Editorial decisions shall be based on the scholarly quality, relevance, originality, methodological soundness, and contribution of the manuscript rather than the author's nationality, ethnicity, gender, religion, institutional affiliation, political beliefs, or other irrelevant personal characteristics.

JUPAUD does not tolerate practices that compromise the integrity of the scholarly record.

2. Authorship and Contributorship

Authorship should reflect substantial intellectual or scholarly contributions to the work. Individuals listed as authors should have made meaningful contributions to the research and/or manuscript and should be able to take responsibility for their contribution.

All authors should approve the final version of the manuscript and agree to its submission and publication.

Individuals who contributed to the work but do not meet the criteria for authorship should, where appropriate, be acknowledged separately.

Changes to authorship after submission, including additions, removals, or changes in author order, require an appropriate explanation and the agreement of the affected authors and editorial approval.

3. Originality and Redundant Publication

Authors must submit original scholarly work and must not submit the same manuscript simultaneously to more than one journal.

Authors should properly cite and acknowledge ideas, findings, data, words, figures, tables, and other materials originating from other sources.

Redundant, duplicate, or overlapping publication should be disclosed to the editor and appropriately justified where relevant.

4. Plagiarism and Similarity

JUPAUD does not tolerate plagiarism, including the presentation of another person's ideas, words, data, images, or other intellectual work as one's own without appropriate attribution.

Submitted manuscripts may be screened using an appropriate similarity checking service as part of the journal's research-integrity screening process.

A similarity result is treated as a screening indicator rather than an automatic determination of plagiarism. The editorial team may examine the context, sources, quotations, references, methodology, and other relevant factors before making an editorial decision.

Where plagiarism or other serious integrity concerns are identified, the journal may request clarification, reject the manuscript, or take appropriate post-publication action in accordance with the nature and seriousness of the case.

5. Research and Publication Misconduct

JUPAUD takes allegations of research and publication misconduct seriously, whether they arise before or after publication.

Examples may include:

• Plagiarism.
• Fabrication of research data or results.
• Falsification or manipulation of data or findings.
• Duplicate or redundant publication.
• Improper authorship or authorship manipulation.
• Citation manipulation.
• Undisclosed conflicts of interest.
• Manipulation or interference with the peer-review process.
• Unauthorized use of confidential manuscript information.
• Other practices that materially compromise research or publication integrity.

When a credible allegation is received, the editor may conduct an initial assessment and request clarification or supporting documentation. Where appropriate, the matter may be referred to the relevant institution or responsible authority.

6. Editorial Responsibilities

Editors are responsible for maintaining the integrity, fairness, confidentiality, and transparency of the editorial process.

Editors should evaluate manuscripts on scholarly merit and should not use unpublished information obtained through the editorial process for personal advantage.

Editors should protect confidential information concerning submitted manuscripts and should manage conflicts of interest appropriately.

Editorial decisions should be independent and should not be inappropriately influenced by commercial, personal, institutional, or other non-scholarly interests.

7. Reviewer Responsibilities

Reviewers are expected to provide objective, constructive, timely, and evidence-based evaluations of manuscripts.

Reviewers must treat manuscripts and associated information as confidential and must not use unpublished material for personal benefit.

Reviewers should disclose any actual or potential conflict of interest and should decline the review where impartial assessment cannot reasonably be maintained.

Reviewers should alert the editor to suspected plagiarism, fabrication, falsification, inappropriate citation practices, or other potential research-integrity concerns.

Reviewers should not contact authors directly about a manuscript unless specifically authorized by the journal.

8. Conflicts of Interest

Authors, reviewers, editors, and other participants in the editorial process should disclose relationships or interests that could reasonably influence, or appear to influence, their judgment.

Potential conflicts may include financial interests, employment, professional relationships, personal relationships, institutional interests, funding relationships, or other relevant circumstances.

Editors may request additional disclosure or reassign a manuscript when necessary to protect the impartiality of the editorial process.

9. Peer Review Integrity

JUPAUD uses a peer-review process designed to provide independent scholarly assessment before publication.

Reviewers are selected based on subject expertise, relevance to the manuscript, availability, and absence of inappropriate conflicts of interest.

The journal does not guarantee acceptance of submitted manuscripts. Editorial decisions are based on the manuscript, peer-review reports, editorial assessment, and the journal's publication criteria.

10. Ethical Oversight

Authors are responsible for ensuring that research involving human participants, vulnerable populations, animals, personal data, or other ethically sensitive materials complies with applicable ethical requirements.

Where ethical approval is required, authors should provide appropriate information about the relevant ethics committee, institutional review board, or equivalent authority.

Authors should obtain informed consent where applicable, including consent for publication of identifiable information, images, or other personally identifiable material.

The journal may request evidence of ethical approval or informed consent where appropriate.

11. Data Sharing and Reproducibility

Authors are encouraged to make research data, materials, instruments, codes, or other supporting resources available where ethically, legally, and practically appropriate.

Data sharing should respect privacy, confidentiality, intellectual property, informed consent, and other applicable restrictions.

Where research data cannot be openly shared, authors should provide an appropriate explanation where relevant.

12. Intellectual Property and Copyright

Authors are responsible for ensuring that submitted manuscripts respect copyright, intellectual property rights, permissions, and appropriate attribution.

Third-party figures, photographs, tables, instruments, datasets, quotations, or other copyrighted materials should be used only when the author has the appropriate rights, permission, license, or legal basis.

13. Complaints and Appeals

JUPAUD provides a mechanism for authors and other stakeholders to raise legitimate complaints or appeals concerning the editorial or publication process.

Complaints should be submitted with sufficient information to allow the journal to understand the issue and conduct an appropriate review.

Appeals against editorial decisions should provide a clear explanation of the grounds for the appeal and any relevant supporting information.

Complaints and appeals are handled objectively and confidentially where appropriate, without retaliation against individuals who raise legitimate concerns in good faith.

14. Post-Publication Discussions

JUPAUD recognizes that scholarly discussion may continue after an article has been published.

Readers and researchers who identify substantive concerns about a published article may communicate those concerns to the editorial team through the journal's official contact channels.

Where appropriate, the journal may investigate the concern and publish a correction, clarification, expression of concern, retraction, or other appropriate editorial notice.

15. Corrections, Retractions, and Expressions of Concern

JUPAUD may publish a correction when an error affects the published record but does not invalidate the main findings or conclusions of the article.

A retraction may be considered when published findings are unreliable or when serious research or publication misconduct materially affects the integrity of the article.

An expression of concern may be considered when there is a significant unresolved concern that may affect the reliability or integrity of a published article.

Post-publication notices should clearly identify the affected article and explain the reason for the editorial action.

16. Citation Ethics

Authors should cite literature that is relevant to the research and should not add citations solely to increase citation counts or artificially influence metrics.

Editors and reviewers should not require authors to add irrelevant citations for the purpose of increasing journal, author, reviewer, or institutional citation metrics.

Citation practices should support accurate representation of the scholarly literature.

17. Funding Disclosure

Authors should disclose financial support, grants, institutional support, or other funding that contributed to the research or publication where applicable.

Funding information should be presented transparently so that readers can understand potential sources of influence or support.

18. Use of Artificial Intelligence

Authors remain responsible for the accuracy, originality, integrity, and accountability of all content submitted to JUPAUD.

Where generative artificial intelligence or other AI tools are used in manuscript preparation, authors should comply with the journal's separate AI Ethics & Procedure policy and disclose relevant use where required.

AI tools should not be listed as authors because authorship requires human responsibility and accountability for the published work.

Editors and reviewers should protect manuscript confidentiality and should not use generative AI tools in ways that compromise confidential submitted material or the integrity of peer review.

19. Confidentiality and Privacy

Editors and reviewers must protect confidential information obtained through the submission and peer-review process.

Personal information collected during submission and publication should be handled appropriately and should not be disclosed beyond what is necessary for legitimate editorial and publishing purposes.

Confidential manuscript information must not be used for personal, commercial, or competitive advantage.

20. Editorial Independence

Editorial decisions should be based on scholarly and ethical considerations and should remain independent from inappropriate commercial, political, financial, or personal influence.

The publisher supports the editorial team in maintaining the integrity and independence of the journal's scholarly decision-making process.

21. Handling Allegations of Misconduct

When an allegation of misconduct is received, JUPAUD may follow a process that includes:

1. Initial assessment of the allegation.
2. Review of available evidence and relevant documentation.
3. Request for clarification from the relevant parties where appropriate.
4. Consultation with editors, reviewers, institutions, or other appropriate parties where necessary.
5. Referral to the relevant institution or authority when appropriate.
6. Editorial action based on the available evidence and applicable ethical guidance.
7. Publication of an appropriate post-publication notice when necessary.

JUPAUD may consult relevant COPE guidance when handling publication ethics and research-integrity cases.
