Correction & Retraction
Correction and Retraction Policy
JUIKTI is committed to maintaining an accurate, transparent, and reliable scholarly record through responsible correction, retraction, and post-publication procedures.
JUIKTI – Jurnal Ilmu Komputer dan Teknik Informatika, published by CV. Raskha Media Group, recognizes that maintaining the integrity of the scholarly record is an ongoing editorial responsibility.
Published articles normally remain part of the permanent scholarly record. However, when errors, ethical concerns, or serious research misconduct are identified, JUIKTI may issue a correction, clarification, expression of concern, or retraction as appropriate.
Core Principles
Accuracy
JUIKTI seeks to ensure that the published scholarly record is as accurate and reliable as reasonably possible.
Transparency
Post-publication changes should be clearly documented and linked to the affected article where appropriate.
Proportionality
Editorial action should be proportionate to the nature and seriousness of the identified problem.
Post-Publication Actions
Correction
Used to correct an important error that does not invalidate the overall article.
Clarification
Used when additional information is needed to clarify the published record.
Expression of Concern
Used when there is a substantial unresolved concern requiring reader awareness.
Retraction
Used when an article's findings or publication integrity are seriously compromised.
1. Corrections
A correction may be issued when an error is identified in a published article but the error does not invalidate the main findings, conclusions, or overall scholarly contribution of the work.
Examples may include significant errors in:
- Author information or affiliation.
- Figures, tables, or captions.
- Metadata or bibliographic information.
- Text that materially affects interpretation.
- References or citation information.
- Other errors that should be corrected to maintain an accurate scholarly record.
Correction Procedure
Error or concern is reported.
Editorial team assesses the evidence.
Authors may be contacted for clarification.
Appropriate correction is published.
2. Retraction Policy
Retraction may be considered when a published article contains serious problems that substantially affect the reliability, validity, or integrity of the scholarly record.
Retraction does not necessarily imply misconduct by every author. The editorial assessment considers the available evidence and the circumstances of the case.
3. Grounds for Retraction
Depending on the evidence and circumstances, an article may be considered for retraction because of:
Substantial unattributed use of another person's work.
Research data or results are found to have been fabricated.
Data, methods, images, or results have been materially manipulated.
A fundamental error invalidates the main findings or conclusions.
Substantial duplicate publication compromises the scholarly record.
Research was conducted or published in violation of important ethical requirements.
Serious authorship or identity-related problems materially affect publication integrity.
Peer review or editorial processes were manipulated or seriously compromised.
4. Expression of Concern
JUIKTI may publish an Expression of Concern when substantial questions have been raised about a published article but the available evidence is not yet sufficient to justify a correction or retraction.
An Expression of Concern alerts readers to an unresolved issue while the editorial team continues its assessment or awaits relevant information.
5. Retraction Procedure
Report
A concern is reported to the journal.
Investigate
Evidence and relevant explanations are assessed.
Decide
The editorial team determines the appropriate action.
Document
The decision and affected article are documented transparently.
6. Article and Version of Record
When a correction or retraction is issued, JUIKTI will preserve the original publication record where technically and ethically appropriate. The article page will clearly indicate the post-publication status.
Correction or retraction notices should be linked to the affected article and, where applicable, associated with the article DOI so that readers and indexing services can identify the updated scholarly status.
7. DOI and Metadata Updates
Where an article has a DOI, relevant correction, retraction, or editorial notices should be associated with the article's bibliographic record and metadata where technically possible.
JUIKTI will seek to maintain consistency between the journal website, article metadata, DOI records, and other scholarly metadata services when post-publication changes are made.
8. Who May Report a Concern?
Concerns about published articles may be raised by authors, readers, reviewers, editors, researchers, institutions, or other parties who have credible information relevant to the integrity of the publication.
Reports should provide sufficient information or evidence to allow the editorial team to assess the concern responsibly.
9. Opportunity for Author Response
Where appropriate, authors may be contacted and given an opportunity to provide explanations, corrections, supporting documentation, or other relevant information before a substantive post-publication decision is made.
Commitment to the Scholarly Record
JUIKTI is committed to correcting the scholarly record when necessary and to handling retractions and other post-publication actions fairly, transparently, and responsibly. The objective of these procedures is to protect readers, authors, reviewers, editors, and the integrity of scholarly communication.
