Plagiarism Screening Policy

Jurnal Pengabdian Masyarakat Berdampak (JUPEMBA) applies plagiarism and similarity screening to submitted manuscripts as part of its initial editorial assessment.

The screening process is intended to identify substantial textual overlap with previously published articles, academic publications, online sources, and other relevant materials.

Important Editorial Note

Similarity percentages are used as an initial screening indicator and are not, by themselves, proof of plagiarism. The editorial team evaluates the context and nature of each identified similarity.

Contextual Assessment

Similarity may result from legitimate academic practices and standard scholarly expressions. The editorial team therefore considers:

• properly cited direct quotations;
• references and bibliographic information;
• standard academic and technical terminology;
• standard methodological expressions;
• article titles and common phrases; and
• appropriately attributed material.

A manuscript below the stated similarity thresholds may still be rejected if serious plagiarism or other publication-ethics violations are identified.

Authors' Responsibility

Authors submitting manuscripts to JUPEMBA are responsible for ensuring that their work:

• is original and has not been published elsewhere;
• properly acknowledges all sources;
• contains appropriate citations and references;
• clearly identifies direct quotations;
• does not contain substantial unattributed copying;
• does not constitute duplicate or redundant publication; and
• complies with applicable copyright and publication-ethics standards.

Self-Plagiarism and Duplicate Publication

JUPEMBA considers substantial reuse of previously published text, data, figures, tables, or findings without appropriate citation, disclosure, or justification as a potential publication-ethics concern.

Manuscripts that substantially duplicate previously published works or are simultaneously submitted to another journal may be rejected.

Possible Editorial Actions

Depending on the severity and context of the identified similarities, JUPEMBA may:

1. request an explanation from the author;
2. request revision or rewriting of affected sections;
3. request additional citations or attribution;
4. return the manuscript for revision;
5. reject the manuscript; or
6. take appropriate post-publication corrective action when necessary.

Confidentiality

Similarity reports and related editorial assessments are treated as confidential components of the manuscript evaluation process and should not be publicly disclosed or distributed without appropriate authorization.
